Abstract: | Regional posthole and minor infill posthole drilling conducted within EL 1276 and EL 1277 yielded low or no anomalous gold results. Continued regional and infill posthole drilling within EL 1271 obtained highly significant gold mineralisation at the Galifrey prospect (Wild Turkey area). This was followed up with RAB, RC and some diamond drilling, which indicated an extensive low grade deposit several kilometers in length. Some of the better intersections include: 18m at 2.14 g/t Au, 65m at 0.65 g/t Au, 22m at 1.11 g/t Au, 16m at 2.08 g/t Au and 61m at 1.0 g/t Au. The mineralisation in Wild Turkey occurs along the Galifrey fault structure, which also acts as a contact between a felsic intrusive and a sedimentary unit. Mineralisation is associated with NW striking east dipping shear zones, which are up to and possibly >50m in width. Highest grades of mineralisation are spatially associated with the intersection of the structures and the intrusive assemblages, notably where stockwork quartz veinlets are developed. Exploration work in the EL's also involved regolith studies, extensive geochemical sampling, geophysical surveys and their interpretation, geological and structural mapping. |
