Title Holder / Company: Finke Oil
Report id: PR1964-0031
Tenure: OP72
Year: 1964

Abstract: The 1964 Mt Charlotte Seismic Survey was carried out by Geophysical Associates Pty Ltd on behalf of Finke Oil Company Pty Ltd within OP72. The survey acquired 13 lines of seismic data with a total distance of 141.3km. The main objectives for this seismic survey were; to detail a prominent subsurface structure revealed in a 1962 seismic survey conducted by the Bureau of Mineral Resources, to give regional control on the depth and distribution of prospective Upper Proterozoic, Cambrian and Lower Ordovician sediments within the Mt Charlotte area and to traverse and evaluate the most prominent magnetic basement high indicated in a previous magnetic survey.
The anomaly targeted for the reflection seismic survey turned out to be an area of complex faulting and of small areal extent and is of secondary interest. Other targets, in particular prospects are interesting and warrant further exploration.
NOTEThe survey lines within the report and scanned lines may have a different names to those seen in STRIKE. e.g. MC-1 = Line 1
