Abstract: | Mineralisation (Au) is subdivided into those parallel or sub-parallel to the original fold axis or cross cutting deposits. The Hercules and Cornwall gold deposits are described as cross cutting while the Moline, Tumbling Dice, Dingo and waterfall are considered as cross cutting deposits. Sub-parallel mineralised zones are strongly sulphitic polymetallic with gold associated with sphalerite, arsenopyrite, pyrite, pyrrhotite, and chalcopyrite within repetitive, lightly folded carbonaceous slabs, laminated slate and calcareous siltstones. Quartz and calcite are associated. Mineralisation in zones form steeply south west plunging north to south elongate polymetallic pods. Northern Hercules is a major cross cutting gold deposit with pyrite and chalcopyrite and associated sphalerite and galena. The sulphides and quartz veining are found in a north-south stear zone which cuts across NW tending greywacke, sandstone and siltstone. Gold Mineralisation with sulphides form elongate south plunging en echelon pods. All gold and sulphide mineralisation is reported as structurally controlled. |
