| Abstract: | In 2025 Central Petroleum applied for and was subsequently awarded a grant by the Northern Territory Government under Round 18 of the Geophysics and Drilling Collaborations Program to reprocess approximately 95 km of 2D seismic that was acquired over the Palm Valley Gas Field in 1994. The seismic was partially reprocessed in 2002 however the quality of the stacks of both original and reprocessed lines varied from extremely poor to very good with the poorest data quality coincident with the crestal area of the structure. Thrust Belt Imaging (TBI) reprocessed the data using Post Stack Time Migration (PSTM), and as anticipated, reprocessing the entire survey with modern reprocessing methods has significantly improved the quality of the stacks, at depths at and below the currently producing gas intervals. For the interpretation of the seismic survey the reprocessed lines were integrated with other seismic lines and tied to the Palm Valley wells. The selection of formation horizons to be interpretated was largely based on the continuity of the corresponding seismic reflectors across all the seismic. Whilst the interpretation of the reprocessed seismic remains consistent with previous interpretations it has provided a greater degree of confidence in those interpretations. |
