Abstract: | EL 27014 comprises 779 sqkm of the Great Sandy Desert bioregion overlying part of the south west margin of Neoproterozoic to Devonian Amadeus Basin a post Gondwana remnant of the Centralian Super Basin. The apparent northern margin of the 570-530Ma Petermann Nappe Complex on BLOODS RANGE is the Bloods Range Backthrust Zone an internally duplexed basement wedge where north-verging thrusts result in repetition of the basal Amadeus Basin succession, rotated into a steeply north-dipping monocline that continues its arcuate albeit undercover south south easterly trend across EL 27014 for over 40km before merging with the east south east trending Piltardi Detachment Zone, east of the licence area. Notedly, Bloods Backthrust Zone is the basal structure of a passive roof duplex where Neoproterozoic Amadeus Basin sediments accommodated shortening by thrusting south over the north -propagating wedge along a detachment surface within Pinyinna Bed carbonate stratigraphy. They are zones of intense tectonism facilitating high fluid flow during regional green schist facies metamorphism thus deemed prospective for lode gold deposits. However there are are only four small areas of cropping out Dean Quartzite/Pinyinna Bed strike ridges trending SSE across the licence area none of which are mineralised consequently EL 20714 is surrendered. |
