Title: | Gardiner Project EL 31799 Partial Relinquishment Report for the period 31 July 2018 to 30 July 2024 |
Title Holder / Company: | Northern Star (Tanami) |
Report id: | CR2024-0516 |
Tenure: | EL31799 |
Year: | 2024 |
Author: | Allan, D Hawkins, D |
Abstract: | EL 31799 reached the end of its sixth year of grant on 30 July 2024 and pursuant to Section 29 of the Mineral Titles Act, a 50 % compulsory partial relinquishment was completed. A total of 53 graticular blocks were relinquished from the original 106-block area. This partial relinquishment report describes exploration activities primarily for gold undertaken by Northern Star (Tanami) Pty Ltd on the 53 relinquished blocks of EL 31799 between 31 July 2018 and 30 July 2024. The exploration activities completed comprised a regional targeting assessment, office studies and land access, aeromagnetic and radiometric survey, aeromagnetic survey data merge, and regional magnetic merge/stitch, interpretation and targeting. The airborne geophysical survey was flown using a fixed wing Cessna 210 on a 50 m line spacing and an average height of 30 m for a total of 5,946 line kilometres. The airborne geophysical survey data was previously submitted in the Gardiner Project (GR442) Group Annual Report for the period 26 July 2021 to 25 July 2022. The relinquished blocks were selected from the least prospective areas of EL 31799 and are interpreted to be predominantly covered by post-mineralisation Gardiner Sandstone. In places, this sandstone can be up to 6 km thick. The retained blocks were selected due to the interpreted presence of Dead Bullock, Killi Killi, and Mt Charles formations (mine sequence rocks at several mined or mining operations within the Tanami). Additionally, interpreted structures, isoclinal folds and faults are interpreted from the new high resolution magnetic imagery within these formations that increase prospectivity and create potential areas where mineralised fluids could travel and congregate. Historical soil and rock chip sampling also indicates gold anomalism within the retained blocks. No significant results were obtained from, and no high-priority targets remain untested on, these relinquished blocks. Northern Star will continue to progress the Gardiner Project, including the retained portion of EL 31799. |
