Title: Final Technical Report EL 33077 Kaimana ending 29 January 2024.
Title Holder / Company: Rio Tinto Exploration
Report id: CR2024-0242
Tenure: EL33077
Year: 2024
Author: Norris, R
Abstract: EL 33077 Kaimana was lodged to test the potential for pegmatite hosted lithium mineralisation associated with GA mapped Sn-W-Ta mineral occurrences at Trew Creek and Juggler and with 'pegmatite like' features interpreted from satellite imagery. Reconnaissance surveys completed in the 2023 reporting period did not find any evidence of pegmatite development with these targets or elsewhere in EL 33077 Kaimana. Interpreted pegmatite like features were found to be quartz reefs or other high albedo features including weathered Cretaceous sediment inliers. Multiple traverses of the area in the vicinity of the occurrence failed to find any evidence of workings or alluvial gravels suggesting the location or description of the Trew Creek Sn-W-Ta occurrence are inaccurate. Two samples of specular hematite bearing quartz vein sampled immediately upstream of the Trew Creek occurrence were devoid of Sn-W-Ta. A granite sample collected to the immediate south of the Juggler W-Ta occurrence returned chemistries consistent with metalliferous alkaline granite with weak Sn-W-U fertility. EL 33077 Kaimana is considered not prospective LCT pegmatite or other styles of mineralisation. A request for surrender was lodged with a notice of cessation received on the 29 January 2024. This report compiles all work completed by Rio Tinto Exploration on EL 33077 Kaimana including that in the 2023 reporting period.
