Abstract: Encounter Resources Ltd. (Encounter) Maryfield Project is located in the greater McArthur Basin, over the Walton high at the northern margin of the Beetaloo Sub-basin. The Maryfield Project is focused on the intersection of the regionally extensive Malapunyah Fault Zone, the Daly Waters Fault Zone, and the Strangways Fault. In this area, the subsurface is interpreted to display Paleo- to Neoproterozoic strata which contain significant thicknesses of reducing black shale, a major element for sediment-hosted copper deposit formation. These documented Proterozoic strata are covered by Phanerozoic and Cambrian cover. Major crustal discontinuities are associated with large-scale metal deposits. Being able to accurately map the structural framework over the project is paramount to identify area with greater prospectivity for copper mineralisation. A project wide ground gravity survey was completed to significantly improve gravity resolution at the project area. A work program was designed to collect ground gravity stations over EL 32727 and EL 32728 to infill the existing grid down to a 1km-by-1km resolution. The work program was granted co-funding in Round 17 of the Geophysics and Drilling Collaborations program. A total of 1197 new gravity stations were acquired in August 2024 in a grid configuration, with stations located as close as possible to planned 1km-by-1km grid points. The newly acquired Maryfield Gravity data showed significant improvement in data resolution compared to the existing regional gravity datasets at 4km-by-1km for the project. The new data (merged with existing regional datasets) allowed more detailed structural interpretation of the area and will assist with future exploration and potential targeting in the project.
