Title: | McEwen Hills Project Resourcing the Territory: Geophysics and Drilling Collaborations Program (Collaborations Program) R17 - Magnetic/Radiometric Survey ELA 33191 |
Title Holder / Company: | Gempart (NT) ELM Resources Trek Metals |
Report id: | CR2024-0645 |
Tenure: | ELA33191 |
Year: | 2024 |
Abstract: | Co-funding was requested for a detailed magnetic and radiometric airborne survey to cover a portion of the eastern end of the Arunta block by Trek Metals Ltd. Current regional magnetic data indicates that the target area contains a sequence of highly deformed and variably magnetic rocks, similar to rocks that are known to host intrusion related mineralisation at the western end of the block (in Western Australia). Due to the scale of the target intrusions, and the potential for other styles of mineralisation, an increase in resolution of the magnetic rocks and associated interpretation will improve the understanding of the geology and promote further work programs. The McEwen Hills Project is located towards the eastern shores of Lake McKay, east of the WA/NT boarder. From Alice Springs the project is approximately 450km WNW. Data collection commenced on the 16th of August 2024 and was completed on the 23rd of August 2024 having collected 3,463-line km of data. During the data collection phase Trek received word from representatives of the local aboriginal people that the underlaying tenement application would not proceed in the original shape, and that only a reduced area would be available. Accordingly, the survey was reduced to match the area that is likely to be granted for exploration. The total area covered by the survey is approximately 260km2. The new data has provided the desired increase in resolution of features within the area surveyed, and ongoing interpretation will refine the understanding of the underlaying geology. |
