Stratigraphic characterisation of the Glyde package, greater McArthur Basin, Northern Territory

Abstract

This Record presents a systematic stratigraphic study of the late Palaeoproterozoic Glyde package. The main outcomes of the study include:

- collation of new and historical data and production of baseline datasets of all stratigraphic units, comprising geomorphic expression, nomenclature history, type/reference section(s), outcrop and subsurface distribution and thickness, stratigraphic relationships and boundary criteria, and detailed lithological description

- refinement of palaeoenvironmental interpretations

- integration of new and existing geochronological data to constrain the ages of sedimentary units and define new intrabasinal correlations.
