Abstract: | The 2016 Reward exploration program consisted of a field program, limited to a targeted mapping traverse and an TEM survey, and reviewing and interpreting data collected from previous field seasons- primarily over the Teena Prospect. The field program consisted of several TEM surveys, which were separated into repeating surveys originally completed in 2015 -but deemed to be unreliable due to faulty equipment- over the Reward West and Barney Creek prospects, and a survey over the Surprise Creek Prospect. The repeated prospects failed to return any conductive responses consistent with significant pyritic response at known depths and locations of interest. A moderate response was returned from the Surprise Creek Prospect. Given the lack of exploration (both by Teck and historically) over Surprise Creek, a mapping traverse which followed the EM survey was conducted during Q2, primarily to validate historical mapping and identifying any significant structures. Further interpretation of the seismic survey conducted in 2015 was a priority in the first half of 2016, with final interpretations identifying Jabiru Fault as the main growth fault associated with the Teena basin, rather than the Bald Hills Fault as had previously been believed. It also highlighted the large accommodation at the Barney Creek Formation time, to develop the basin and the relatively small accommodation at the deposition of Reward Dolostone. A drive to greater understand the basin development, lithology and alteration of the Teena deposit lead to a re-logging program; aiming to produce more accurate and consistent logs and identify facies variations. This resulted in the identification of multiple key marker beds, and consistent stratigraphic boundaries through the basin, and the production of a series cross sections. These were later used to create a 3D model. Environmental work focused on developing a comprehensive environmental baseline study framework, monitoring previous rehabilitation, and some minor ground and surface water monitoring. |
