Abstract: MLM Drilling Pty Ltd ('MLM') acquired the Marqua Creek Phosphate project in 20 16 in order to explore for potential phosphate targets previously outlined by Elkedra Diamonds NL and Uramet Minerals Limited. The phosphate target lies within the Georgina Basin of the Northern Territory, which is host to the renowned Duchess Deposit held by Incitec Pivot. Although phosphate prices have dropped since 2010 it is believed the move towards organic farming practises will mean this product will be highly marketable within Australia and overseas in the future. Work to date has mainly focussed on the analysis of historical data and organisation of gaining access to the core library in Alice Springs in order for samples to be collected for testwork. In October, 2017, a brief reconnaissance field trip was conducted mainly to understand the project logistics, with the intention of future geological and drilling programmes. A substantial analysis of historical data has been undertaken and through this it has been found that the area is in fact prospective for rare earths, but in particular, Scandium, which to date has been underexplored. This realisation has come late in the reporting period, and by chance, as the focus to date has been phosphate. Further investigations will be conducted in the forthcoming year to find out the economic potential of the metal.
