Abstract: | EL 26951 is centred on a north-east trending ridge of Early Proterozoic metasediments of the Pine Creek Orogen that hosts coarse gold over 3km of strike. Gold was first discovered in 1999 by prospector Steve Lewis using hand held metal detectors, which located nuggets up to 30oz in size. The initial discovery was in the vicinity of Steve's Hill on the northern boundary of the tenement and subsequently further coarse gold was detected along strike at John's Flat and at Chin's Gully. The license has significant cover of alluvium over much of its area. Exploration work completed in the area has not revealed a source for the gold recovered by metal detecting. During the report period, the owners of Magic Place Pty Ltd carried out further metal detecting and collected eight surface samples. Small nuggets were again found between Chin's Gully and John's Flat prospects. A soil sample returned an average assay value of 263 g/t gold. The results indicate the source of the primary gold may be located to east of the alluvial occurrences. |
