Abstract: This report summarises the major findings of the detailed organic petrographic study, with information from the preliminary study incorporated wherever necessary for clarity. Fourteen samples from the CKAD0001 well drilled in the Georgina Basin, Northern Territory, were received from Geoscience Australia for organic petrological studies. All 14 samples were initially assessed for their relative abundance and specific types of organic matter content. Based upon the results of the initial assessment, a suite of 11 samples were selected for detailed organic petrographic analysis, including the thermal maturity levels attained.
The eleven samples selected for detailed study are all conventional drill core samples.
All samples were of middle Cambrian age with the samples from the lower Arthur Creek Formation containing abundant to major bitumen.
