Abstract: The Giles Creek project comprised exploration licence EL 26819 of 310 km2 in the northern part of the Musgrave Block Province, adjacent the WA/NT border about 500 km west of Alice Springs. It was granted in March 2017 and surrendered in October 2019. The tenement area has been virtually unexplored by the private sector. Previous geoscientific surveys of the tenement area comprised regional airborne geophysics and ground gravity by Government agencies in 1985 and 2014 respectively. Geological mapping by NTGS was carried out ca. 2000. The tenement was secured to explore for commodities of current interest, such as copper/gold and energy/strategic minerals. Public domain geotechnical datasets were accessed, image-enhanced and analysed. In the second year of tenure a collaborative airborne magnetic/radiometric survey was flown over the entire tenement area at 150 metre line spacing. The new data resolved to prospect scale magnetic and radiometric anomalies vaguely recorded in dated wide-spread airborne data, but did not generate any new exploration targets of interest. The lack of significant targets from detailed airborne geophysics coupled with prohibitive conditions attached to ground access led to the decision to surrender the tenement.
