Abstract: | This report covers the second year exploration conducted at White Range East EL 28029. EL 28029 lies 100 km east-north-east of Alice Springs, and encompasses part of the rugged Amarata Range. EL 28029 contains Blueys Folly, a prospect notable for rare earth occurrences within high grade metamorphic rocks. To date no JORC resource has been delineated, but it's thought several million tonnes at 0.4% REE exists (Hussey, 2003). Year 2 works targeted the REE potential and advance our understanding of the area. This work comprised a detailed aeromagnetic/radiometric survey, with emphasis on thorium and magnetics, literature study, and several field inspections with a hand held scintillometer. The results were encouraging. Numerous examples of allanite were located in some old dozer cuts to the east of Blueys Folly. This coincided with elevated Th from the recent survey. Further work is recommended. The area may be conducive to hosting a large low grade REE resource. |
