Abstract: | This report documents exploration work conducted by Newmont Goldcorp Exploration Pty Ltd (Newmont) on the surrendered portion of EL 31350, during the period 22nd June 2017 to 26th June 2019, which forms part of Newmont's Fenton South project (the Project). The Project is located in the western section of the Central Domain of the Pine Creek Orogen (PCO), which is a major gold and uranium province in the Northern Territory, containing a known gold endowment of approximately 11Moz Au. Newmont's work on the Project targeted Proterozoic Pine Creek lode style gold mineralisation. Work completed during the reporting period was limited to desktop studies including a literature survey and compilation of open file historical data. Geological interpretation of the Project area interpreted the northeastern Project area as underlain by granite and the southern Project area comprised of deep (greater-than 250m) Cambrian mud and limestones of the Daly Basin. The potential gold prospectivity of these areas is considered low, resulting in the voluntary partial surrender of EL 31350. |
