dc.description.abstractA change in corporate direction by BHP Billiton resulted in the withdrawal from exploration activities in the region by MinEx in early 2011. Consequently no field exploration activities were conducted during the reporting period. However BHP Billiton management also recognised the synergy with the existing GEMCO Manganese Mine on Groote Eylandt, and during January 2012, management of the East Arnhem Project was transferred to BHP Billiton GEMCO. This will enable the local operation to continue exploration for a manganese mineralisation in the region and fulfil the existing lease arrangements.en_US
