Title: | OP178 Possible 1988 Drilling Targets - A Comparison of Hydrocarbon Prospectivity |
Report id: | PR1991-0011 |
Tenure: | OP178 |
Year: | 1988 |
Corporate Author: | Pancontinental Petroleum |
Abstract: | The report analyses 9 prospects which are structural plays associated with faulting. The primary objective are the P1 and P3 units of the Pacoota Sandstone, the depth to a thickness of these units is highly variable due to non- deposition erosion. Porosities are also highly variable due to diagenesis but is assisted by fracture porosity. The secondary objective is the Stairway Sandstone. The main source for hydrocarbons is expected to be the Horn Valley Siltstone. Quantity and quality of organic material increases Westward. Thermal maturation studies indicate that the Horn Valley Siltstone. is likely to be in the oil window from` 500 to 1500 m. Many of the prospects required improved seismic data information. |
