Abstract: | Mataranka Oil, a wholly owned subsidiary of Omega Oil, is the operator of EP18. After acquiring a substantial amount of seismic and drilling six wells in the permit area, Pacific Oil and Gas who formed into the area in 1990, withdrew in 1994. Omega had been investigating the possibility of extracting oil directly from the rick source rocks present in shales of the Roper Group, A detailed study involving, stratigraphy, sedimentology, seismic data, structural geology, etc was conducted in order to assess the potential of EP18. An economic study and discussion on leads and prospects were also presented in this report with a recommendation for further investigations. |
