Abstract: The Ngalia Basin is a sparsely explored area with modest petroleum potential. It has proven source rocks and potential reservoirs which are firm correlatives of petroleum-productive strata in the Amadeus Basin. It contains favourably positioned, reliable seals and many structural traps Four prospects, here referred to as West Reef, Beantree, West Treuer and Newhaven, are presently recognised in the Ngalia Basin. They are defined by seismic and outcrop data and represent a variety of exploration plays. Gas is expected to be the dominant hydrocarbon type at these prospects.
