Abstract: | Geomorphic/geologic analysis of Russian satellite photography over EP-20 in the Amadeus Basin has been performed for Indigo Oil Proprietary Ltd. Twenty-five prospective areas have been designated for further study. These areas include: 1) eight geomorphic leads to local structures or stratigraphic traps in broad synclines, 2) thirteen anticlinal leads along seven well-defined axes, and 3) four groups of geomorphic anomalies in sand-covered areas. Recommended follow-up studies include airborne hydrocarbon sensing, confirmatory interstitial soil gas hydrocarbon analyses, and soil magnetic susceptibility measurements. Together, these make up a cost-effective combination of methods to search for evidence of hydrocarbon microseepage and to characterize it. |
