Preliminary report on the regional geology of the Simpson Desert and adjacent areas

Abstract

The present report represents a survey of the existing literature on the 9,750 square mile lease which the company has been granted in the Simpson Desert, Northern Territory. A meagre amount of information exists on the area itself and the related geologic provinces to the north and east. Because the total area of the lease is covered by desert literally nothing is known of the geology beneath the sand ridges. Attention was paid to the surrounding areas to the north, west and east for conditions which conceivably could have a bearing on the sand-mantled area of the desert.
