Abstract: The Larapinta Group contains reservoir as well as source and cap rocks. The thinning of the sequence towards the southwest should provide pinchouts. The dirty Cleland Sandstone has negligible oil potential. Several favourable structures are present in the permit area. The Larapinta Group was made the subject of the study in OP56 because its sediments are believed to have the best oil possibilities of the entire sequence permit.
