Title: | Report on Permit No. 19 |
Title Holder / Company: | Geosurveys of Australia |
Report id: | PR1960-0005 |
Tenure: | OP19 |
Year: | 1960 |
Abstract: | Principal interest in search for oil in the area is centred on the Early Cretaceous and Cambro-Ordovician marine sequences as potential source beds for oil. Anticlines are well developed in the Alice Springs area and it is presumed that these will continue beneath the Mesozoic Artesian Basin. Cretaceous sediments are only gently deformed about the basin margin, but sufficient to be attractive in oil exploration. Extensive aerial reconnaissance have been carried out. Photogeological interpretative maps were also prepared. |
