Abstract: | The Arltunga Gold Project, EL 25238, is located approximately 110 km northeast of Alice Springs, over historical gold producing mines. Arltunga Goldfield was the subject of small scale mining activities from the late 1800s to mid 1900s, and again in the 1980s, producing approximately 15,400 oz of gold, primarily from high-grade quartz reefs. The Exploration License hosts 33 historical gold mines and prospects with significant gold assays up to 53g/t from rock chip sampling around old mine workings and pyritic-quartz veins. Previously completed Gradient Array Induced Polarization (GAIP) surveys delineated anomalies, some of which were over existing mines and extensions to old workings. Since gold and pyrite are associated in the quartz veins, the survey results may be indicative of gold mineralisation. These anomalies, and several other gold occurrences, were geologically examined in the field. |
