Abstract: | Following grant of the EL, photo research, review of historical open file reports and data and reconnaissance planning was initiated. Due to the record 2011 wet season, exploration was deferred until access could be gained through creeks and extensive grassed terrain. A reconnaissance field trip was carried out to the area which demonstrated the terrain to be very difficult to access, with boulders, steep quartz ridges and high grass covering the area well into the dry season. Aerial mapping and site visits to determine the most appropriate method of exploration was carried out. One access track traverses the EL at approximately -13 degrees 42 minutes south, with another track accessing the Mt Davis Deposits to the south of the EL. Accordingly the exploration program focused on the area of reasonable access on the western side of the tenement. Soil and stream samples were panned in a number of areas and demonstrated heavy alluvials, but no gold. Metal detecting has to date not produced any gold nuggets. |
