Bridging report MCN 506, MCN 507, MCN 734, MCN 735, MCN 738, MLN 135, MLN 779, MLN 780, MLN 822 and MLN 856 Burnside Project - Elizabeth Group, Union Reefs Project 1 January 2011 to 15 August 2011

Abstract

The Elizabeth Group of tenements is located approximately 168km south-east of Darwin, Northern Territory. Total area covered by the group of tenement is 65.42 hectares. The Elizabeth group covers rocks of the Burrell Creek Formation made up of nterbedded turbiditic greywackes and shales. These rocks have been tightly folded about NNW trending axial traces to produce sub-vertical to steeply dipping bedding across the area. The host sequence including the Pine Creek Shear Zone is confined to the east by the Allamber Springs and Mount Porter Granite and to the west by the Tabletop and McCarthys Granites. Rocks within this zone have been tightly folded and in high strain areas, subjected to fold limb failure. Axial planes and bedding tend to dip steeply to the west. Spotted hornfels to garnet hornfels facies metamorphism is attributed to the influence of the Cullen intrusive event. Mineralisation is hosted by narrow shear systems and confined to erratic plunging shoots that have been historically mined out to 30m. There were no exploration activities for the Elizabeth Group of tenements during the reporting period. During the next reporting period, work on the Elizabeth group of tenements will include a review of historic drilling and sampling data including geophysical and geochemical data. Crocodile Gold will also conducted a detailed review of historic resources and mining activities. Field mapping may also be conducted.
