Abstract: Work carried out on the tenements during this reporting period has included soil geochemical surveys (75 Conventional and 25 Auger soil samples), a detailed ground magnetics survey (73.8 line km), 3 fixed loop ground EM surveys (259 stations), down-hole EM surveys on 3 drillholes, geological prospect mapping, and the drilling of 10 RC holes for a total of 1036m and 199 samples. Exploration work for copper mineralisation over the Frances Maude tenements has identified a major copper mineralised system at Ox-Eyed Herring. Further exploration by drilling of this system is required to determine if zones of higher grade copper mineralisation are present. Ground magnetic surveys proved to be successful in delineating pyrrhotite-associated copper mineralisation, but the subsequent discovery of zones of pyrite-chalcopyrite mineralisation with no discernible magnetic signature makes it unsuitable as a stand-alone technique. Ground EM successfully located a number of sulphide bodies although modelled data is not always consistent with drill results, possibly due to initial model assumptions about geology being incorrect. Auger soil sampling resulted in base-metal values an order of magnitude higher than conventional soil samples, even though subsequent drilling showed the anomalism to be offset from the source by hydromorphic dispersion. This highlights the need for accurate mapping prior to interpreting soil geochemistry results, and casts some doubt over the ability of auger soil sampling to accurately define areas of mineralisation.
