Author: Mackie, AW
Abstract: EL 26706 is a small area of 11 sub blocks located 35km south of Tennant Creek neatly bisected by the NT Gas pipeline providing access to most of the area under licence. Geologically it is dominated by a low lateritically capped ridge of hematitically altered greywacke trending north west for over 5km which has been sampled several times .The area has been flown several times for magnetics and radiometrics revealing up to 11 AMAG anomalies of which only two have been been read for ground magnetics and were subsequently, inconclusively drill tested for potential Tennant Creek-type mineralised ironstones. Whereas the Squash magnetic prospect was read for ground gravity only following up a Helimag survey anomaly then drill tested to 364m for no conclusive result. A program of historical data acquisition and analysis, mapping, rockchip sampling and geophysical modelling of Helimag data to rank the apparent prospectivity of Anomalies 1-11 has been completed during the second year of tenure.
