Abstract: | MMG Exploration sampled ten open-file diamond drillholes stored in the NTGS Core Facility. The holes sampled include: BJ1, BJ6, LY01, DD01BAL01, GR-NT79-8, YN9702D, McA10, McA18, WM4 & DD82CA1. Samples were analysed for chemistry (rock-forming, trace and rare earth elements -including organic carbon), specific gravity, Pb isotopes in whole rock and galena, zircon separation and petrography. The purpose of the assays was to assess the lithogeochemistry of shales proximal and distal to the McArthur River sediment-hosted zinc-lead mine. The specific gravity was used to constrain gravity models and assess the contrast and variability of densities within and between rock types. Pb isotopes were analysed to date mineralisation events to distinguish between HYC-time mineralization and later events. Tuffs were collected from a package logged as Barney Creek Formation in the Glyde River hole. The zircons were separated and photographed but not analysed for geochemistry as it was decided upon the review that the stratigraphy was sufficiently well constrained. -- from abstract |
