Abstract: | The Wingate Mountains Project comprises six exploration licences, EL's 10140, 25258, 26963, 27040, 27041 & 27043. During the year ending 30 May 2012 the majority of the exploration work was carried out on EL 10140. A detailed look at the geophysics has been conducted to assist in target generation. Two field trips have also been undertaken to collect rock chip samples and preliminary soil geochemistry results utilising a Field Portable Niton XRF analyser. A review of exploration data for EL 10140 Wingate Mountains has highlighted the need to determine the cause of this broad scale gold-rare earth anomalism and the potential for deeper vein systems. The presence of the two Intrusive events (Ti Tree Granophyre and the Litchfield Complex) coupled with the structural complexity suggests a high likelihood that the associated hydrothermal activity would facilitate gold deposition. The anomalous 'Terry's' group of prospects may require investigation with deeper diamond and RC drill holes to better understand the geological and mineralogical associations. The more recently discovered 'Silver Strike' (Ag, Cu) prospect to the south west will also require drilling. |
