Abstract: The Altrunga gold project area is located some 110 km north east of Alice Springs in close proximity to the Alice to Adelaide Railway. After 70 km of sealed road along the Ross Highway, there is a formed gravel road which leads northeast for 33 km to the Arltunga Historical Reserve. The Genesis Arltunga tenement has a well documented historical mining heritage which has yet to be subjected to the full suite of modern exploration tools and is therefore highly prospective. During December 2007, the report authors visited the tenement and examined several of the old mine workings in the Mt Chapman vein camp. Several rock chip samples were taken and are illustrated in Photos 4 to 7. Four samples gave high grade values for gold in association with high anomalous copper values. It was clear from the visit that there had been extensive artisanal mining throughout the area and that the historical extraction had concentrated on the high grade veins. Genesis has begun to compile a detailed project GIS and has already incorporated re-processed geophysical data from the Northern Territories (sic) Geological Survey, as with the neighbouring Alice Springs tenement. Given the proximity of the Alice Springs tenement and the same geological basement lithologies, it would be advisable to ensure that both tenement datasets are fully integrated. A greater understanding of the deposit type and style of mineralisation will be critical to ensure success. Current information suggests that the majority of the gold is found in narrow quartz reefs that extend for up to several tens of metres. Depth extensions have historically mined to depth of no more than 12 m therefore possibly leaving deeper reef zones as yet undiscovered.
