MLC 617 annual report Little Tramp period 15 September 2007 to 31 December 2008

Abstract

Since 1988, access to MLC617 has been restricted by the registration of the Marla Marla-Kantiji sacred site in September 1988. Attempts by Tribune Development to re-negotiate access to the lease with the CLC and the traditional owners have so far been unsuccessful. Sacred site access restrictions have prevented exploration activities being conducted on MLC 617 during the current reporting period. MLC617 is subject to a joint venture agreement initially established on 19 February 1987 between LDC Appel (33.3%), E Johnson (16.67%), and Quadric Pty Ltd (50%). Sabminco NL and Tribune Developments Pty Ltd, both wholly owned subsidiaries of Grange Resources Limited, have now acquired equal portions (25% each) of Quadric's shareholding. The Little Tramp tenement (MLC 617) lies between the Outlaw historic workings to the east and the Mt Samuel workings to the west. Magnetic and gravity surveys indicate that the Little Tramp contains approximately 300m of a continuous, steeply north dipping ironstone horizon that forms part of the Juno - Mt Samuel mineralised trend. Within MLC 617, three sets of shafts occur along the ironstone and drill holes have targeted this ironstone in the vicinity of historic workings. No historic production figures or drilling results for the Little Tramp are known. The ironstone outcrop at the adjoining Mt Samuel tenement MLC 599 is significantly different to the areas east of Mt Samuel. The southern side of Mt Samuel consists of ironstones sheets that dip shallowly south. Elsewhere on the hill the ironstones appear to be lenses up to 50 metres wide with near vertical dips and strike parallel to the east - west cleavage. A discontinuous line of ironstone enclosed by hematitic mudstone, siltstone and greywacke outcrops along the ridge east from Mt Samuel toward the Little Tramp tenement.
