Thermal history assessment using Apatite Fission Track Analysis and Vitrinite Reflectance, Southern Bonaparte Basin

Abstract

This report was prepared to assess the thermal history of the Southern Bonaparte Basin.

The study is based primarily on new apatite fission track analysis (AFTA) data in twenty-two samples from three offshore wells, one onshore well and eight onshore shallow core samples. Twenty-three new vitrinite reflectance (VR) measurements in samples from three of the wells were also obtained. These data are integrated with open-file VR data from the four wells to provide a coherent thennal history framework for the Southern Bonaparte Basin.
