Title: Dunmara Aeromagnetic Survey - Interpretation Report
Title Holder / Company: Mercure International Petroleum
Report id: PR1965-0019
Tenure: OP64
Year: 1966
Corporate Author: Compagnie Generale de Geophysique
Abstract: The 1965 Dunmara Aeromagnetic Survey was carried out by Compagnie Generale de Geophysique on behalf of Mercure International Petroleum Pty Ltd within OP64 in the Eromanga Basin in the Northern Territory. The survey was able to acquire 3531km of profiles within OP64.
The survey allowed clearing up the main geological and morphological features of the area. The Mesozoic and Palaeozoic sediments are very thin, generally about 5000 metres. A magnetic anomaly giving many anomalies may be related to the effusive volcanics of Early Palaeozoic. The weak thickness of deposits overlying the upper marker does not seem favourable for the oil research.
