Title: 1962 Simpson Desert Gravity Survey - Acquisition, Processing & Interpretation Report
Title Holder / Company: Beach Petroleum
Report id: PR1962-0006
Tenure: OP57
Year: 1962
Corporate Author: Geoseismic Australia
Abstract: An extensive semi-detailed gravity survey has been carried out for the first time in the Simpson Desert to explore for indications of geological structure which may be significant in the search for petroleum. The survey was a logical extension of earlier geological and geophysical surveys in the area immediately to the west where (Andado vicinity) where gravity and reflection-seismic surveys provided interpolative evidence of deeper structure.
Major gravity features have been outlined by this survey. A number of strong asymmetrical anomalies extend NNW-SSE and are presumed to be related to deep seated block faults. The more symmetrical linear gravity anomalies are considered to be indicative of folding.
