Abstract: The 1964 Dakota Bore Gravity Survey was carried out by Geosurveys of Australia Pty Ltd on behalf of Beach Petroleum NL within OP57 located in the Simpson Desert which lies approximately 273.6km southeast of Alice Springs. A total of 1001 stations were levelled and was a logical extension of the 1962 Hale river Gravity Survey and the 1964 Anacoora Bore Gravity Survey. The previous survey mentioned outlined a borad zone of anomalous gravity maxima ENE of Dakota Bore that extened ENE towards, and possibly across, the Hale River Floodout. For this reason the main objective of the gravity survey was to define the extent and features of the 'Dakota Gravity Maximum' in detail.
