Abstract: Western Geophysical carried out the 1965 Queens Channel Marine Seismic Survey for Australian Aquitaine Petroleum Pty Ltd within OP2, in an area located in the southeast corner of the Joseph Bonaparte Gulf. The survey was able to acquire 10 new seismic lines with a total 448.4km of seismic data. The main purpose of this survey was to obtain additional information as to the general structure of the offshore area of OP2.
The Bonaparte Gulf Basin is separated into a southern and northern zone by the Queens Channel. From a previous survey, it seemed that the Queen's Channel was a high, fairly faulted area. The predominant structure of the area is a closure measuring approximately 2 by 4 miles. Those areas with structures or indicated structures require a closer grid for complete delineation.
