Abstract: | The 1963 Ninbing-Burt Seismic Survey was conducted by United Geophysical Corp. for Alliance Oil Development Australia NL within the Northern part of OP3. 7 lines of seismic were shot in this area with a total distance of 104.6km. The main objectives of this survey were to further study the structure of the Burt Range embayment and to determine the thickness of the sedimentary sequence present with it. Other objectives were to delineate reliable drilling locations on structures or close to wedge-out which could form traps for hydrocarbon accumulations and to obtain more reliable geophysical control of structure encountered in other geophysical surveys. A 'high' on line N-6 is considered to have the best prospect of forming a petroleum trap. The area south of Spirit Hill Well No. 1. warrants further investigation. |
