Abstract: Magellan Petroleum Corporation contracted Seismograph Service Limited to carry out a Vibroseis seismic reflection survey in licence block OP189 of Northern Territory, Australia. The survey was over the Camel Flats Syncline. OP189 was originally held by Coastal Caribbean Oils & Minerals Ltd, and in 1981 Magellan Petroleum had reached an agreement with Coastal Caribbean Oils & Minerals to be the operator and carry out the seismic survey. During the survey a total of 320km of seismic data was obtained. The main purpose of the program was to provide a reconnaissance seismic grid and indicate a suitable location for the first exploration well to be drilled in the area.
The seismic data processing was conducted by Petty-Ray Geophysical with most of the interpretation work conducted by Magellan Petroleum.
