Abstract: | The 1964 James Range Seismic Survey was carried out by Geophysical Associates Pty Ltd on behalf of Exoil Pty Ltd in Area 'G' within OP43, as part of the farmout agreement with Magellan Petroleum the permit holder of OP43. The survey was able to obtain 3 seismic lines with a total distance of 9.7km, 1 less than the original programme. The main purpose of the survey was to determine if there was a closure on the south flank of the James Range 'C' anticline, which was outlined in previous geophysical and geological work conducted by Magellan Petroleum. Survey programme terminated before completion, due to poor reflection quality, inaccessibility of some of the area and difficult drilling conditions. No conclusions made on existence of southern closure of James Range C Anticline. |
