Gidyea Annual report for EL 27821 for the period 26 August 2012 to 25 August 2013

Abstract

Historic work in the area suggests it is highly prospective for gold associated with ferruginous siltstones and intrusive-related quartz veining and copper-cobalt within a mafic intrusive. There is also a potential for surficial iron enrichment. The main focus of historical exploration has been the Gidyea copper-cobalt-gold prospect. Past explorers have indicated confusion as to whether the prospect is located within the Gidyea Gabbro or in the adjacent ferruginous siltstone. The precise location of initial sampling of the siltstone outcrop (i.e. the original Gidyea 'Gold Prospect') which produced the highly anomalous gold result is poorly constrained. Further samples were collected as recently as 2002 by Tennant Creek Gold however there was no record of location or rock type. Anomalous results of two of these samples suggest that the anomalous gold and the copper-cobalt are associated with different rock units (Green 2012). Exploration activities during the current year was conducted by Eupene Exploration Enterprises P/L (EEE) in mid-July. Work completed consisted of geological reconnaissance and traversing followed up with a regional geochemical sampling program. A total of 93 stream sediment samples, 7 bulk stream sediment samples and 26 rock chip samples were collected. Rock sample coverage of the Gidyea Gabbro was carried out in an attempt to duplicate the historical anomalous geochemistry as was sampling of the iron-rich, clastic vein-quartz outcrop, mentioned in previous annual reports. All samples were submitted to the Genalysis Intertek facility in Alice Springs for assay. The bulk samples will be run over a Wilfley Table prior to assay.
