Abstract: Exploration Licences (EL's) 10176, 24371 and 24372 with a total area of 423.07 km2 comprise the Nabarlek tenements located in West Arnhem Land about 250 km east of Darwin. The tenements were granted on 1 September 2004 for six years to Cameco Australia Pty Ltd (Cameco). The exploration programme in the first year of tenure comprised: data compilation, evaluation and target generation; identification of 34 radiometric anomalies from interpretation of previous radiometric-magnetic survey(s); rock chip sampling, core re-logging and sampling (NANND0207), mapping and radiometric prospecting at three prospects previously discovered by Queensland Mines Pty Ltd (QML) i.e. N84, S27 and SMLB. Twenty-six rocks chips were taken for geochemical analysis; and a hyperspectral survey completed over the western 2/3 of the tenements. Best geochemical results are: 738ppm U in NA04C10006 in brecciated quartz-mica schist 700 m northwest of S24; 33ppm U in NA04C10039 in amphibolite and quartz mica schist near S27; 10.8ppm U in NA04C10036 in ferruginous sandstone near S27; and in NANND0207 there is 1.66% U in a chlorite-quartz-hematite vein within dolerite at 141.5 m depth. Further work is proposed for SMLB and S27 in 2005. Additional sampling and reconnaissance is proposed for both areas with a single helicopter supported hole proposed for S27. Reconnaissance and sampling is also proposed for other prioritized target areas determined from previous work. Detailed radiometrics and magnetics are recommended for the southern part of the tenement. A TEMPEST survey that may reveal basement conductors and fault offsets in the unconformity is also recommended.
NOTEAdditional geophysics datasets are available on request
