Abstract: | This report details exploration activities for manganese mineralisation conducted by Bootu Creek Resources Pty Ltd within the North Renner Springs (EL 23624) area during the year ending 23rd February 2005. Work undertaken was reconnaissance traversing of the basal section of the Shillinglaw Formation which is characterised by manganese replacement of dolomitic siltstone, sandstone and dolostone. This basal section was traversed along east-west lines across the strike direction of the rock unit. Lines were spaced at about 500 m intervals. Sixteen occurrences of predominantly iron, but also manganese mineralisation were located. Five rock chip samples (no's 30001 to 30005) were collected from Fe and Mn mineralised float, scree and outcrops. A number of these occurrences, I.e. Mn outcrops at sample locations 30001, 30003, 30004 and 30005 warrant follow-up investigations. Inspection of the eastern and north-eastern parts of the tenement area that is underlain by siltstone and sandstone rock (Prp) units was also undertaken and indicated that these areas contain no Mn occurrences. They are recommended for relinquishment. Proposed work during the third year will comprise follow-up inspection of the Mn occurrences identified during the second year, drill target identification and RAB drilling of these targets. |
