Abstract: | The Ostojic Group Pty Ltd mineral leases for extractive mineral purposes only, located near the eastern coastline of Bynoe Harbour between Keswick Point and Rankin Point. Mining has occurred in the past for the extraction of aggregate by Burge Brown and family. Remnants of the previous mining include old workings on several of the tenements. No mining reports have been located on these titles when under the care of Burge Brown. The land has been granted to the Traditional owners of the Kenbi Land Claim. Rehabilitation was completed during the 2011-2012 year. There has been no mining or clearing since that time. There were several stockpiles and workings, the legacy of the Burge Brown days. The removal of the stockpiles of coarse sand throughout the old workings of Burge Brown has been completed. The area has been rehabilitated to blend in with surrounding landscape. An excavator was used for the workings/rehabilitation in this area, as this provided the least damage to the surface of the land. The material was removed, allowing for full rehabilitation in the shortest time possible. Material removed from MLN 294 was 18,000 metres3 and 14,000 metres3 from MLN 295 of coarse sand (stockpiled by previous owner). Natural vegetation is self sown, consistent with surrounding species over rehabilitated areas. Monitoring of the area has been ongoing to ensure level of revegetation and monitoring for erosion. |
