Abstract: | The EL 27772 was a part of Legend's Kiana Project. In the first two years Legend completed field based exploration including the collection of loam and stream gravel samples. One of these samples was a large 1,000kg gravel sample dug by hand to follow up historic bulk sampling results. No kimberlitic indicator minerals were recovered. During Year 3, Legend visited the Licence area and identified several potential locations for future bulk sampling. Field investigation during Year 4 was to locate and map Cretaceous conglomerate deposits which may have been source for the historic several macrodiamonds and indicator minerals recovered in the neighboring tenement. No conglomerate occurrence was observed and the source of detrital diamonds remained unknown. During the final year, Legend completed critical review of all available data from the Licence to assess its prospectivity for hosting diamondiferous kimberlite. Review concluded that despite best efforts Legend remained unsuccessful to locate a kimberlitic source on the Licence and recommended its surrender. |
