Abstract: | The proximity of SEL 8630 to the Merlin kimberlite pipes makes this area highly prospective. Exploration work during this period involved conventional and geochemical sampling, geophysical surveys and drill testing of geophysical anomalies. 14 of the higher priority targets generated by a refractive seismic survey in the previous reporting period, were drilled with 18 RAB holes. No kimberlitic material was intersected. Several sediment samples were collected out of which ten were positive with microdiamonds and chromites. An east-west line of soil samples was gathered at the Northern Anomaly in conjunction with samples collected over known kimberlite pipes to test the effectiveness of MMI technology to diamond exploration. |
