Title: | Annual report EL 734 period ending 12 May 1997 |
Title Holder / Company: | PNC Exploration Australia |

Abstract: | This report details exploration work undertaken in EL 734 during the initial year of tenure. The exploration programme consisted of airborne surveys (spectrometrics, magnetics, VLF plus aerial photography), regional geological mapping, regolith studies, stream sediment sampling for diamond indicator minerals and gold (BLEG), plus some DC electrical soundings. Despite limited outcrop the basement geology of the tenements was interpreted. Metasedimentary lithologies are restricted to an anticlinal structure in the western part of the tenement, the remaining area is underlain by migmatites and granitoids of the Nimbuwah complex. The most significant results obtained were some areas anomalous in uranium on the airborne spectrometric data, four rock chip samples with anomalous gold values (244ppb Au, 124ppm As), and chromites which plot in the kimberlitic field recovered from two of the diamond samples. BLEG results indicate that all of the samples are below the detection limit for gold. However a high value of 5.6ppm U was recorded in one sample. none of the values for other elements appear to be significant. |
