Abstract: | This is a summary report only. EL 8529 is located approximately 25 kilometres east south - east of Adelaide River and 12 kilometres north - east of the Mount Paqualin trig, within the Cullen Mineral Field, on the Burnside (14/2-Il) 1:50,000 scale map sheet. Euralba Mining N.L. held the area under AP 2404 from December 1971. Exploration was directed toward U and Cu. Euralba completed rock chip sampling and an airborne radiometric survey. Geopeko Ltd. held the area from 1976 to 1980 under EL 1195. The exploration carried out included aeromagnetic and airborne radiomagnetic surveys, followed up with diamond and percussion drill holes. Western Mining Corporation Ltd. and WR Grace Australia Ltd. held the Exploration Licence area under EL 3642 from 1983 to 1986, under the Mount Ringwood Joint Venture Agreement. Exploration was directed toward base metals. They completed reconnaissance geological mapping, helicopter-assisted soil and rock chip sampling, an aerial photo interpretation study, an airborne magnetic and radiometric survey, gridding, soil sampling, ground magnetics, stream sediment sampling, rock chip sampling and re-logging of diamond drill core. Oceania Exploration and Mining N.L. held the area from 1987 to 1991, under EL 5313. Exploration was directed toward Au and base metals. The work carried out included geological mapping, aeromagnetic interpretation, drainage and rock chip sampling along with reconnaissance RAB drilling. Pegasus Gold Australia Ltd. entered into a joint venture with Oceania and carried out detailed geological mapping, rock chip sampling, costeaning, RC drilling and Stress Mapping Technology over the entire project area. Pegasus withdrew from the joint venture in June, 1990. Northern Gold N.L. completed a work program based on digital data and a regional soil sampling program over EL 8529, producing an 800 metre x 200 metre Au and As anomaly on the western margin of the tenement, with values to 63 ppb Au and 83 ppm As. EL 8529 was granted to Northern Gold N.L. (50%) and Camelot Northern Territory Ltd. (50%), formerly Reynolds Australia Metals Ltd., on the 20th of April 1994, for a period of 5 years. The licence has been included with other Northern Gold N.L. controlled tenements in the Yam Creek area under SEL 9591. Substitute Exploration Licence 9591 was granted on the 31St of October 1996, for a period of four years. No work was completed over EL 8529 between April 1996 and October 1996. |
